The Bishop of London and The Trustees wish to appoint a Rector for the United Benefice of St Olave Hart Street with All Hallows Staining and St Catherine Coleman

Applications are invited for the post of Rector of St Olave Hart Street, a beautiful medieval church in the southeastern corner of the City with a friendly and welcoming congregation which is looking to expand both numerically and in terms of its outreach.

The successful candidate will ideally be someone who:

  • Is a priest of Central Church Tradition, with high levels of pastoral
    skill and experience of growing and nurturing a largely gathered congregation so that all who come into contact with us may encounter the love of God in Jesus Christ.

  • Will encourage discipleship amongst local City workers, both visible and invisible.

  • Appreciates the importance of music and the arts in enriching worship and able to develop a cultural programme that is missional, providing a link into a life of faith.

  • Is able to leverage the history of the church creating an innovative educational outreach programme.

  • Is a gifted preacher and communicator who will welcome, engage with and inspire people of all ages and backgrounds.

  • Is able develop strong relationships with local businesses and the staff and visitors in the many nearby hotels.

  • Is able to work collaboratively as part of a team, and with other local City churches, using the resources available to them imaginatively and creatively.
